The Red Bangle Award is presented annually to a woman who “by her life and accomplishment demonstrates the indomitable eloquence of the human spirit.” Inaugurated in 2014, the award recognizes women leaders globally who share WEP’s vision and inspire its students, young Indian women, to higher goals. Sonali Khan leads Sesame Workshop’s educational mission in India to create innovative and engaging content that maximizes the educational power of all media to help kids grow smarter, stronger and kinder. As Managing Director of Sesame Workshop India, Sonali spearheads the organization that combines the power of mass media with educational outreach to prepare children for school and life. About the Forum
WEP’s annual Forum gathers international thought leaders working towards gender equality. Past topics have included NGO collaboration, gender lens investing, technology and change, celebrating first generation college women and recently, the pandemic’s disproportionate effects on women and girls, and the importance of supporting leadership and decision making power of women at the grassroots level to truly resolve social and economic problems.
